An unfortunate reality about both companies and people who want to gain a following on the web is that we’ll never hear about most of them. The problem is we’re never told about them directly by peers, they’re severely lacking in the digital PR department. The only reason I notice the obscure ones in the first place is because I’m the only geek actively taking the time to dig through the unknown brands, people and companies and studying their marketing efforts (along with the popular ones, of course).
I’m a big fan of psychologist and author Robert Greene. Previously, I deconstructed his landmark book, the 48 laws of power, and interpreted how the laws apply to blogging.
It was a pleasant surprise for me to discover he has written two other books outlining laws applicable to the areas of seduction and war. War strategy is especially compelling because businesses take cues from military strategic successes in areas such as how they react to changes in the marketplace from competition and how they position their external communications.
I’ve gotten multiple requests for this, so here you go – a SlideShare including most of the 100 images from my viral images posts (a few were too large to fit well on PPT).
All of these are from 2008, so if you closely follow web culture and/or read this blog they might not be new, but I thought it would be interesting to put these into a more portable format. I’m keeping track of my favorite images of 2009 as well, definitely a future post.

Recently, I was having a discussion with my friend David Malone (a java developer in the Minneapolis area) about a web application he’s developing/the strategy he plans to use behind it, and our discussion turned to the subject of chess. Growing up, playing chess was one of my favorite pastimes, so naturally it’s the first thing my mind turns to when discussing the strategy behind anything.
I’m excited to share some good news with you today. After carefully weighing my options, I have decided to join the talented, passionate team of digital marketing professionals at TopRank Online Marketing in Minneapolis, MN.
TopRank’s team and leaders stood out to me as the best in the industry, and they offer Internet marketing services far ahead of the curve. Even a step further, a big part of what attracted me to TopRank in-particular was their level of involvement in the marketing industry and social web as a brand, as I am equally interested in being a contributor.
The quality of their team has met and exceeded expectation, and I look forward to a prolific future as a member of their forward-thinking agency.
With that said, this post is short on purpose – head over to my introduction to the TopRank community for the whole story and leave a comment!
