Community Managers Need To Pay Attention To News

This morning, there was some horrific news of a shooting at the Batman screening in Aurora, Colo. At least 12 dead, dozens more wounded in this horrific event.

I’ve always been curious about those who choose not to participate in conversations regarding their given industry online. Especially those in digital marketing and PR (or any facet of the tech industry – which encompasses everyone in marketing and PR).

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and although I’ve written about this before, it’s worth repeating. If your marketing is structured in a way to show up every day, you’re going to dominate those who work forever on big ideas and never ship.

The other day I was at the supermarket buying food, and while pushing my cart I noticed it was in very bad state, making it uncomfortable for me to push it. So I thought: “these guys are not very smart!”

An obvious trend in the way we share ideas, collaborate and play is mobile. Mobile fluency is a skill that is a requirement for every marketer as well as developer and entrepreneur. And a large part of that, is of course measurement — a meta skill for everyone in tech.

Oreo recent posted the above image to their social channels in celebration of Pride Day. A brilliant move by itself as it’s extremely social to support basic human rights and equality.
