I know if I were thinking about buying a product or going with a certain service, I would be much more motivated if I could schedule my appointments online. The idea of a live chat is a great one too. For some reason I hate calling companies on the phone, but if I could click a button and do a live chat, I don't think I'd mind. Must be my generation.
Matt, you're completely right--it is all relative. I'm glad you brought this point up because it was something I did not address. This is an important point for companies to remember (otherwise they may get too stressed out), but like you said, still no getting lazy on your marketing!

Nancy, that is a great tip! Let's add idea numero siete to the mix. Not every webmaster/blogger/website in general is going to even need, say 10,000 unique views per month.
If you are selling bull dozers on your website (yes, I know this is an exerageration but it illustrates the point) then you will not need to go after as much traffic. So it's relative, right? If you have a high ticket price item or service you market then you can get away with lower traffic numbers.
This doesn't mean getting lazy on your marketing. It just won't mean you need some crazy number.

@Nancy E.

Let’s add idea numero siete to the mix.
