It was basically a copy and paste version of Wikipedia, and it broke my heart that apparently it was totally okay to do that, as supposedly suggested by her teacher. Though, I am honestly envious at how much information is at their beck and call, and how easy it is to locate. In my opinion, if used wisely, technology can only make us smarter and savvier.

I want to disagree with the study, but the last time my niece asked for my help for her “research paper” I was horrified at how casual her paper was. It is a credit to the search engine and not its fault. It just get better at the game they are playing. The issue now is that students might be churning out work that looks totally professional but they might not know they are talking about. It might possible just be a fancy copy and paste job where the marking person won't know the difference.
I believe the trick now is to teach students to use Google or any other search engine that might replace it in the future to develop a even deeper understanding. Students have to be trained how to use the assets that they have in this day and age.
Gone are the days of researching in the library for information that is just a fw keywords away.

While it is entirely possible that Google has had a negative impact on the researching ability of students. Back then the library was the only source of information we could get out from and I remember spending my weekends in the local library trying to locate a book. Now I can do that in... seconds with Google Books?
