Whilst on Facebook I do not appreciate random requests/invites/tags and so on, Linkedin seems to work by networking with those you don't know. I have found it an accessible way to contact companies and individuals alike for work purposes and the reaction has been positive. Whilst informally contacting a stranger, the site - I feel, allows me to do so within the realms of professionalism.
Anyway with regards to Facebook, I completely agree but what are your views on "professional" stalking?

If someone wants my attention in a positive way using social media, don't tag me in a photo without my permission, don't automate a DM if i choose to follow you (i'll unfollow just as quickly).
Social Media is all about establishing a relationship (often with someone i've not met), and any relationship I enter into needs to have one simple rule of engagement in place. R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
