Two things struck me:
1. I love the emphasis on working on your own site - "Ultimately it isn’t a large following, it is the quality of your content that will make or break your blog."
2. Number 10 is a good one. I often find myself asking what if this kind of person reads my blog and I upset them. I do it all the time. For me there is some freedom in just posting what you want, and knowing someone is going to disagree with you.
Good stuff, thanks.

There is lots of good stuff in there – and surprising different from most of these kinds of posts one comes across.

Two things struck me:

1. Love the part about "pull PR" too. I've been in 100+ major media outlets (I have books out) and never called up any of them. They found me, mostly through my blogs.

Lots of really great stuff in here and I’m happy to see someone else acknowledging that the most popular social media platforms present a great way to…get lost in the crowd. 1,000 blog subscribers beats 10K “followers” any day.

Love the part about “pull PR” too. I've been implementing a version of #3 for a while now, but you gave me a new process to consider. #5 is a simple idea, but one everyone could probably do a bit better/more thoroughly. And, #10 really revolves around taking a stand in my view. That's naturally how you make "enemies" online. If you aren't taking stands and forming strong opinions, you're missing a big opportunity (I need to take my own advice there a bit) to position yourself (or, your brand) as a thought leader in your respective industry.
