I hadn't thought about prosperity, but this seems very consistent with other examples of <a href="http://www.calit2.net/newsroom/article.php?id=1558" rel="nofollow">three degrees of influence</a>, such as the likelihood to quit smoking, gain wait or connect with a future mate. I’m gaining a keener appreciation for the network effects in a variety of domains.
