@Natalie Friton - yes, organization is key for blogs. I think cleaner is almost always better.

@Yuki - you're right - being simple is not easy, but it's a fulfilling challenge getting there.

You really nailed it on the head. Being simple isn't all that easy! I think ppl feel more secure with layers of fluff to disguise the lack of meaning.

As for corporation management layers, the higher the pyramid the easier to control. The old "management & control" mode is much more convenient to regulate compare to the messy human network. That's why in order to change its core structure, many of the adoption has to happen top-down.

I believe this day will come in our life time, collaborative networks will become commonplace eventually. The recession is pushing them further - connect or evaporate!

Great article! I am a sucker for Problem/Solution topics but the best part is I always learn something and I appreciate your specific examples. Time to go clean up the blogs. It's nice to know you can keep all the "stuff" just move it to other pages. Good idea.

Regarding the PR stuff, I like to send info as attachments as well as in the body of an email just to make sure they have it in multiple formats and can forward along to other editors with ease. Deciding what, and how much to share, is usually a case-by-case basis depending on who I'm pitching, but might need to try the less is more approach with some folks!

@Dayne - np, and thank you for all the great comments you leave here.

@Tim - you're right, many do hate all the red tape. It's amazing they don't say something about it. Fear for your job is not a reason to stay silent - they need to speak up.

@Robin - that's the key right there - focusing on what really matters and letting go of the rest. You nailed it.

@Debt-free College - simplification takes time and effort but the end result is worth it. The best solution is to start simple and stay simple.

I agree, the hardest, and ironically most complicated, process is that of simplification.

Thanks,
Nate
