@Albert - Sounds like you can work this out, especially if the founder is on your side. Talk to the founder and your supervisor about the situation. Let them know the type of projects you would prefer to work on, build a case for why it matters. Come to them with proactive ideas, and explain how you'll communicate them to your clients. Feel free to email me directly if you have specific questions.

@Adam - Our founder and my supervisor are on my side, and they've encouraged me to push for social media initiatives on the projects I work on. But the other senior staff just do not get it and do not want to get it. It scares them to not have control over the message/content. Fortunately, I'm being given pretty much free reign over the task of branding one of our smaller clients (taking whatever I can get) in a more positive way - and I intend to push a vast social media initiative not just for the sake of the client but for my firm to finally see how one looks/works like. But you're right, and I've already thought about this before, that I might just have to find a new firm.

@Albert take the initiative yourself and bring some plans/ideas to the senior people at your firm. If you're sure they are really good ideas and your team still doesn't get it, it may be time to find a new firm. No reason to be unhappy with the work you are doing if it's not for you, there is certainly demand for talented social media marketing types.

@Adam - Yeah, I'm this web guru you're talking about. The problem is my PR firm is more than happy to give me a ton of low-level work when all I want to do is push a broad social media initiative for many of our projects. It's extremely frustrating.

@Eric - Agreed, but this must be done one step at a time, don't you think? See reason 1, the right person would inspire your whole team to embrace the web...
