Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good

Huge thanks to TechCrunch and and Sarah Lacy – I opened up my (physical) mailbox today to find a signed copy of Sarah’s new book, titled “Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good.” You guys made my day!

Once You're Lucky Twice You're Good

Saw a contest on TechCrunch giving out some free copies of the book if you leave a comment, so I figured why not? I’ve left comments plenty of times on different blogs running contests and never win, so it was pretty exciting to actually be chosen for once.

In case you’ve never heard of Sarah, here’s her bio:

Sarah Lacy is an award winning journalist and author of the upcoming book, “Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good: The Rebirth of Silicon Valley and the Rise of Web 2.0″ (Gotham Books, May 2008). Lacy has been a reporter in Silicon Valley for nearly a decade, covering everything from the tiniest startups to the largest public companies. She writes a biweekly column for BusinessWeek.com called “Valley Girl” and is co-host of Yahoo! Finance’s Tech Ticker. She lives in San Francisco.

And, here’s the description of “Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good:”

Everyone has heard the story of the Internet Bubble. Beginning with Netscape’s blockbuster IPO in 1996, billions of dollars flowed into Internet startups, and companies with no revenues and shaky business plans earned sky-high valuations on Wall Street. It was the era of paper millionaires, $800 office chairs, and Super Bowl ads for dotcoms that no one had ever heard of. Then in 2000 the Bubble burst, with the Nasdaq losing 75% of its value and hundreds of companies closing up shop. It was all written off to “irrational exuberance,” and everyone moved on. Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good is the story of the entrepreneurs who never gave up on the Internet dream.
